Course Title: Elements of Technical English
The course provides 30 hours of remote classes and is designed for 80 students from selected Latin American universities (both editions) as well as AGH University’s students recruited earlier for the project according to established Regulations. The instruction language of the course is English.

The module will be conducted via MS Teams.
The fact that competence has been acquired is be measured through a certificate that students will receive upon completion of the module, certifying the language competence they have acquired.
This course has two complementary goals:
The first goal is to provide students with the 'structure' of technical English scientific articles and some of specific expressions necessary to understand a technical texts.
The second goal is to improve students skills in reading technical texts and analysing data (graphs, tables) as well as drawing conclusions from scientific articles students have read. Work with text and techniques of flipped classroom might be applied.

LECTURER
Eng., D. Bogdan Rutkowski, Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science
Eng., D. Bogdan Rutkowski is assistant professor in Faculty of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Science at AGH University of Krakow. His main research interests concern high-temperature oxidation of austenitic steels intended for use in environmentally friendly fossil fuel-fired power plants. However, he also uses transmission electron microscopy methods to study other advanced engineering materials. He is co-author of over 50 scientific papers indexed in the Scopus database. Most of them were released as a result of wide cooperation with scientists from many European countries (e.g. Italy, Spain, Germany). He holds doctoral diploma from RWTH Aachen or AGH University of Krakow (issued under the joint diploma agreement, between RWTH and AGH University).
